2024- ongoing
These text-based drawings are created by overlapping the same phrase again and again hundreds of thousands of times until the writing becomes illegible. These pieces might be the textual representation of an echo: a non-dissipating echo, an echo which remains. Or they might allude to semantic satiation, the phenomenon in which a word or phrase loses its meaning when repeated ad nauseum. In them language dissolves into the raw materiality of splotches of ink running along paper fibers, the alphabetlike prints of animal tracks, and the silence of veins of ore that lay pulsing in the black earth. These large-scale drawings range from 22 x 30 inches to 30 x 40 inches.
